Does beam pro support light

Does the beam pro work with nreal light can someone please answer truthfully as i have already lost £240 buying a samsung s21 fe that was supported but which now on a newer os doesnt support light anymore can someone tell me whether the beam pro works with the light glasses because i have tried 3 phones and non of them work anymore i need to buy a working device so i can develop for xreal platform but the help im getting is abismal i asked over 2 weeks ago for a definitive compatibility list and got nothing and so i bought 3 different phones that were supported but which arent any longer i need a definitive answer on what device will work with xreal light fully i dont want half the features missing

@Dorix see how crap your company is i asked 2 days ago if the beam pro works with xreal light and noone has replied i need a compatible device regardless of how rubbish the internal are but you wont even tell me if your new beam pro works with the light if i got a diffinitive answer that is does work id buy a beam pro even though they are massively underpowered and built on a budget chipset 200 quid i wouldnt mind paying if the beam pro supports the light can i get an answer to this please before i completely turn my back on your company

Hi, the Beam Pro is not 100% compatible with the Light Glasses. Beam Pro runs on Nebula OS which manage the glasses and have the Nebula Desktop etc.

You can load the Nebula app on it and run the glasses through the nebula app, but it does not switch properly between AR mode and Screenshare mode. So you won’t get all the benefits that Nebula OS can give to the XLReal 2 family of glasses. Nebula AR Space works good on the Beam Pro. Most important is to note that Beam Pro support 3D video recording and you cannot play that back natively on the Light. You need to run FarePlay app and switch to 3D mode, but it shows all squished. I copy my 3D videos from the Beam Pro to my Mac and then I can play them properly via QuickTime and I must say the 3D videos is amazing, really good cameras to have on the Beam Pro

Thank you for your reply i appreciate it so the beam pro will work in mr space but not screen casting is that correct which is a bit rubbish but i can live without aircasting so if im correct the beam pro will work just not with screen casting but mr spaces works as described if you answer to this is yes then just to avoid the nightmare of losing another 300+ quid ill just buy the beam pro and live without screen mirroring i did want to use that and dex but the samsungs are a minefield and trying to find one still on android 13 used will be difficult agian thanks for your help beam pro will give me the mr spaces that i bought it for ?

Yes Beam Pro will give you MR(AR) space and you will be able to run apps designed for Light and Air 1

Another thing is I only tested it with my Apps developed using SDK 1.x and they seem to work with hand tracking and all. I have not yet upgraded my app SDKs to 2.x which is needed if you want your developed app to run on Xreal 2 family of glasses I think. Don’t have Xrea 2 glasses so could not test if apps with SDK 1.x is actually working on them. I will try and upgrade the SDK for my apps to 2.x and post here if they still work or not.

Thank you brother i appreciate you it looks like im going to be forced to buy the beam pro and wait till s22 becomes a cheap phone as ive already encountered a 300 quid loss thanks to xreal and id rather have a half working sey of glasses than another 300 pounds loss buying another phone i have no use for i would t be so angry if it still supported s20 cuz i have a need for the depth sensor and 3d scanning app i understand i cant run ultra apps on the light but can i run light apps on the ultra? The only reason im going to buy beam pro is because i cant afford to lose another 300 quid im on state benefits and developing xr applications is not a place for poor people im furious with xreal as this information should be out there it should t be upto another developer to tell another developer whether a company product works with other products from the company im gutted i lose screen casting but i didnt really buy it for that but it was a selling point had i known how much of a minefield buying into xreal is i wouldnt have bothered id have spent 90 quid on a zapbox for my iphone 14 pro and veen happy now i feel like some big hairy dude has just got off my back yes please keep us posted on you endevours xreal on the points score your now negative 8

I can’t confirm if Light apps will run on Ultra. As I understood it you need SDK 2.x for apps to run on Ultra. If you can use SDK 2.x apps on Light then you should be able to run the same app on both Light and Ultra. Im busy in the background to now upgrade my app to use SDK 2.x. So if that works on Light still then it should be all good for the same app running on both Light and Ultra. If it does not then you will need to maintain 2 copies of the source code. One compiling against SDK 1.x and one compiling against SDK 2.x. If you use git for version control you should be able to use the same source code and just checkout the correct SDK version into the Assets folder you want to compile against.

Where the cameras would come in useful is for me to use some software a developer donated to my future project after i emailed him explaining what im trying to do but not being able to afford the software license or subscription so its a trade off im willi g to make because i do need a vr180 camera to use the donated volumetric video editor software i havent registered yet cuz i dont have a vr180 camera like the r5 and dual fisheye lens i am gutted that the beam pro doesnt fully support the light but i bought them to develop mr for so i suppose losing two features out of the three reasons i bought into xreal is something im going to have to live with or risk losing another 300+ quid trying to find an s22 on qualcom chipset on the second hand market i do need a vr 180 camera and i my main reason was to develop ar apps so screen casting and no dex is something ill have to live with all i can say is xreal aint gonna like my review when i do one

I bought a second hand LG X8 on aliexpress. Was a chance I took and luckily it was the right chipset in that. Was real cheap

I just recompiled with SDK 2.2 and it runs. The hand tracking feels a little slow in my app, but could just be lighting in my room. There are some things that one will need to change I think, the sound does not come through as hard as it was with SDK1.10 for some reason. My Beam Pro handles my app on full 60 fps but it does run very warm after awhile. Im deving a demo for a First Person Shooter on it so it is using all the processing power it can get.

So seems like you can dev on latest SDK 2.x and it will run on Light also

To get quicker response times when asking questions to the Xreal team I usually try to figure out who is a Xreal dev person and message them directly. The guy I used to msg seems not to be working any more cause I don’t see any posts from him. Guess I will need to figure out who is the next good dev here

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE BEAM PRO ill be buying one end of the month im a bit gutted i cant screen mirror or use samsung dex after buying a supported phone that isnt no longer currently supported because of an os update i bought the light for development so i can lose these features in favour of the 2 usb c ports and the spatial 3d camera shame nebula os and desktop dont work with lights but so long as the sdk allows me to target version 2 devices i can take those losses on the chin for the advantage of the two usb ports and 3d cam plus it gives me a device i know is supported by ultra if i decide to invest in them due to there developer support in the forum i am 50 50 if i want to buy into ultra i bought lights new and have had nothing but a nightmare ive already spent more than i would if i bought the beam pro and ultra combo deal the fact i can dev for ultra on the lights with the beam pro is a trade off ill have to accept or lose 780 quid on a useless device and glasses that are a nightmare to find a supported device for thanks again and this forum needs more like you if xreal aint gonna do what they supposed to support your developers xreal

 Hope you get much entertainment out of it. And if you are developing hope you develop some cool stuff for it.

Tried beam pro 256 8gb version with the app it doesnt work is there any setting i need to change to make them work the lights aint working with the beam pro and nebula app

The only phone I found on which the Light works consistently is the Samsung XCover 6 Pro. Of all the “compatible” devices I tested, none of them worked. With the Xcover I’ve had the fewest issues. I’m sorry I didn’t reply earlier.

Usually when you start Nebula App it asks for permission types. There is also a part when you launch an App inside Nebula that it asks that the app must be able to be shown over other apps. I think the same was with Nebula App.

What problem do you have with the Nebula app? Which version are you running. Im running Nebula 3.8.0

Sometimes the glasses must also update its firmware when connected to a later version. I had to plug unplug a few times for the update to happen.

I installed 3.8 and im getting nothing still i cant seem to find the background permission in the device it might be that but its loading the app i contacted support and they told me not to use the nebula app as it might interfere with the xreal software preinstalled ive tried everything except for finding this elusive background permission however i can hear the glassesconnecting and disconnecting by a click in the speakers maybe ill be better off just calling this a loss and moving on really am disappointed with xreal this is the 4th device ive tried and its their own and it still doesnt work this xreal journey has turned into an absolute nightmare

Ive already spent over 800 quid and tested 4 devicesincluding the 8gb beam pro non of them worked so ive decided to shelve the lights and abandon xreal altogether its a minefield trying to find a supported device im gonna put them away and hope xreal work on getting the light working with 8gb beam pro im absolutely furious with xreal and their device compatibility lists i am unwilli g to spend any more trying to find a supported device i think its time to call it a day with xreal shame cuz i was committed to developing for their hardware but i think ill spend 100 quid on zapbox next payday as my xreal journey has been an absolute nightmare would i advise other developer to invest in xreal id have to say no i wouldnt the beam pro is underpowered and finding a device that is supported consistently is a nightmare i was considering buying ultra but i wont be bothering after this ill get a zapbox setup and use my iphone 14 as the compute node worst thing is i was gonna go qith zapbox and found xreal light for 380 so i wend for it and it was the biggest mistake i have made this year its time to stop throwing good money at this piece of junk ill be developing for zapbox instead of xreal from now on

They stopped supporting the Lights a while back, so doubt they’ll continue to invest in getting things to work across all devices unfortunately, and as phone handsets and their OS have advanced since the initial release of the Lights years ago, I wouldn’t suggest anyone invests in them unless they get the dev kit version.

Ive opted for zapbox because of the terrible device compatibility i might come back to them i might not

Hi, Sorry was on holiday. Sorry you could not get Beam Pro to work with Light. I had no problem. Just installed Nebula and it worked. Only thing that did not work was the screen mirroring.
