For quite some time, Nebula for Mac isn’t working. Let’s go open source!

Hi all,

I’ve haven’t been able to use Nebula on Mac almost since I purchased the glasses. It started by having a ghost mouse on screen, went to straight up failing to mirror, then recently it did work, but the screen/screens are too jerky and do not stay where they’re supposed to be.

I tried it both with my Macbook Pro i7 2018 16gb ram, and my Macbook air M3 max 24 gm ram.

I have already seen topics on those bugs reported, and XReal developers claiming that they have passed the bug report to the relevant teams.

I’m aware of various methods XReal support teams suggested regarding settings configuration, none of which work for most people.

I’m also aware that MacOS’s new restrictions on mirroring screens generally brought a new family of bugs to XReal’s development team.

Given that many months passed since any major bug was addressed (nor any ETA on addressing these critical issues), I believe it’s safe to assume XReal doesn’t have the capacity to work on these things.

My suggestion is the following:
We already bought your product and are at least financially invested in making it work (and possibly believe in the idea and want to see it succeed). If you can’t afford these critical bug fixes, please publish the source code of Nebula for Mac, so the community will be able to fix it and make it work.

I’m a neuroscience researcher, with knowledge in computer vision, AI and development. I’m aware that I alone can’t fix all problems, but I’m sure other people here will land a hand with their expertise.

Please help us make sure your product is worth the money.

P.S
If anyone from XReal is actually reading this: It seems like the Beam Pro lacks features the original Beam has, like wired screen mirroring. This came confusing to many community members, as the name indicates it’s an upgrade of the original version. Another Reddit post shared that XReal’s response is that it’s not an upgrade of the original’s Beam, but a whole new product.

The main reason for people who use XReal as a screen at work is the screen mirroring, and we can’t use Wi-Fi mirroring due to IT security concerns. This means the Beam Pro has no use for us, and if the original Beam is discontinued, then the usage is completely gone (because Nebula isn’t reliable enough).

Can we please have a clarification on whether the original Beam product will be continued, or that future products will allow wired mirroring? Perhaps any way to use the glasses with 3 degrees of freedom without any software like Nebula installed on the device (3dof plug and play)?

Also, when will the Beam allow multiple screens? It’s justified here even more than in Nebula, given the dedicated hardware and software for the matter.

Thanks in advance, and would be happy to hear people’s opinions on this
